This Business Advice From My Multi-Millionaire Dad Will Blow Your Mind
I had no idea a story about a paper bag could be so impactful

My dad is literally a baller. I don’t know how he’s accomplished what he has in his life, but, as I tell him every time I call him, he has literally “won the game” and is still going, even after selling his second company for multi-millions of dollars.
PAPER BAGS, BABY.
I called my dad for Valentine’s Day, and we got to talking like we usually do. My Dad is always full of incredible euphemisms that will have you leaving the conversation changed and wondering: “W.T.F. just happened?” We always cover some pretty heavy topics, too, like success and life, allowing our conversations to flow. It’s a lot of fun. He has truly changed my life with his advice.
Today, we’d started talking about school, and I’d said something along the lines of: “if I could do it again I’d pay a lot more attention.”
But what I said isn’t important. It’s what my dad replied with that started about an hour-long conversation and me writing down everything he said at a fever pace because it absolutely blew my mind.
“Oh, yeah? If I could do it again, I’d leave school sooner.”
I’d paused before replying: “Wow. Why?”
“Did you notice I never looked at your grades? You’re getting those marks for you. I learned everything on my own and I focused on learning what benefitted me. I wanted a patent? I went to the library and asked the librarian to show me how. Does that make sense?”
“I think so.”
“I knew this really smart guy who was raised by a waitress. Complete billionaire. And he described it to me as ‘I learned my commerce by running paper bags down to the corner for my brother.’”
“Ah…”
“Do you know what that means?”
“Cash money. Get that bag.”
