The second thing I noticed about Huey is he was talented, popular, and cute. (Okay, that’s three things, but who’s really counting?)
What was the first? He stood four feet tall.
“You mean four feet and three-fourths inches,” he would say in his lazy, Californian way if you’d have asked, and a lot of people did, some not so kindly.
Huey was always far too stoned to be bothered.
I don’t care how tall he is, I’d thought, he’s adorable.

Huey and I met at our first dress rehearsal for a theme park haunt I scare acted for every year. He was a popular new guy. Me, not so much, but we shared some friends.
