Yes, what I did was stupid. I’ll say that right off the bat. But the shoes were so cute. I’d maimed myself for a fashion statement. And also, in my weak defense, I hadn’t realized my feet were so fat. Since when did I grow from a 9.5 to a 10?

My toes started hurting around the two-hour mark at Universal Studios, as I walked around riding and reviewing all the rides on camera. The searing pain started at about hour four and never seemed to stop from there.

I tried curling my toes and even pulling my heel out a bit to get through the day because I needed to make money, but by the end of the day, as I hobbled to my car in the Spiderman parking lot, I was certain I’d broke my big toes.

The nail and the soul heal the same

I won’t show you. You don’t want to see, trust me.

But let’s just say my mom, who is a doctor (and visiting for a work contract) took one look, frowned, and said, “what the hell were you thinking?”

“The boots were cute,” I’d told her.

“I’d be surprised if you didn’t lose those nails. How did you survive a day at a theme…
