I Just Realized the Guy I’ve Been Texting Ghosted Me
Honestly, I’m grateful he did, and I’d like to talk about why.
I have a few questions for you that have been running around the ‘ole noodle.
1.) Have you ever been ghosted before? (According to two recent studies from the Journal of Social and Personal Relationships twenty-five percent of us should be nodding our heads.)
AND
2.) If I were to ask you what you thought about your ghosting experience, what would you tell me? The general consensus — or at least, what I used to believe, is that not only does it downright suck, it somehow automatically means you’re unworthy.
Maybe that’s why my reaction to the text I received this morning, or lack of one, rather, surprised me so much.
My sister and I were in the kitchen when I received a message.
“Ev, your phone’s going off,” she told me, not looking up from her morning coffee.
I picked up my cell, glanced at it before poking around for a second to find the right text, chose the wrong one, and then I realized the guy I’d been talking to for a while hasn’t answered in weeks.
“Oh, okay,” I’d muttered.
